Booking System

The booking system is used to reserve equipment needed for the estimated amount of time. The Booking sytem is beneficial to the user since all machines required for processing or evaluatation can be used at the user's convenience. Additionally, it assists in providing a controlled atmosphere during times of congestion within the cleanroom.

Reservations for machine use can be made through the online booking system at any time through any of the CAMD Microfabrication webpages. With little experience the User can estimate the time and time span of machine use within a tolerance of 30 minutes, and book accordingly. If the user arrives more than 15 minutes late to a reservation, his/her session may be forfeited.

The user is required to book before entering the cleanroom. The machines accessible for booking are only those the user is trained on. In order to accommodate the large number of users, try to avoid over-booking equipment. The use of any equipment without proper booking and login will result in the appropriate consequences as defined in the cleanroom policy.

Login System

The login system functions by allowing power to the machines only after activating the specific machines chosen through the software interface. The feature affected by the login system is unique for each machine. The user is given login access only to those machines on which he/she is trained. The software indicates a list of these machines for the user less those machines in which another user is currently logged in to. Logging in to machines is done immediately (one minute) before machine use; logging off the machine is done immediately (one minute) after machine use.

The computer containing the login system is located in the gowning area inside the cleanroom. A login user's Manual includes complete instructions on operation of the login system.

Key points for managing the login system:

  • 1. The user should usually be logged in to one machine at a time. It is impossible to use more than one machine at a time, unless ovens are needed. For example, the oven may need time to warm up while spinning resist; however, spinning while exposing is impossible.
  • 2. Once the user's login account has been accessed, the machines authorized for use appears in the left column. If there are machines missing from that list, then someone else is logged in to the missing machines. If this is a conflict with booked equipment, contact Tracy or Shaloma to remedy this situation. The user may NOT use a machine that he/she is not logged in to.
  • 3. Power-down procedures for each machine is unique. Refer to the written manual located on each machine for instructions on the proper power-down procedure.
  • 4. Log off immediately after machine use.
  • 5. Log on to another machine only when fully prepared to use it.
  • 6. Do not use a machine that is logged in by someone else.
  • 7. Exchanging LOGIN ID and password is prohibited.
  • 8. Do not attempt to repair malfunctioning machines.
  • 9. Phone, e-mail, or otherwise locate a member of the Cleanroom staff with equipment problems or questions.

All machines inside the cleanroom are connected to the login system, except for the following:

  • - 4 foot stainless steel chemical hood
  • - 6 foot processing hood (positions 1 and 2)
  • - Microvoid Class 100 Work Station (positions 1 and 2)

Note that the listed equipment and all machines inside the cleanroom require booking before use.
